CSGO Crosshair Command

Default Crosshair in Counter-Strike Global Offensive

When newcomers start Counter-Strike Global Offensive for the first time, they are faced with a default crosshair. Logically, some players do not mind that one, while others prefer a different CS:GO crosshair.

The worst part about this situation is that the game settings are unclear and there are no guides or tutorials regarding crosshair codes that will help players find their footing.

Default CS:GO crosshair is quite large and green. On top of that, it is also dynamic which means whenever you move or shoot, this type of crosshair will change in size.

We have to give credit where credit is due. Despite personal preferences, this CS:GO crosshair is easy to use and is visible in different backgrounds which makes it a solid choice for newbies.

However, once players rack up enough gameplay hours, they become more interested in crosshair commands to make a unique sight that suits them the best. Down below, we will teach various ways of changing crosshair settings.

Different Ways of Changing a CSGO Crosshair

There are three main ways of changing a CSGO crosshair. All of them are unique and are purely based on personal preference. On top of that, some ways are more user-friendly while others require deep knowledge of crosshair commands.

Using game settings is by far the easiest method of changing a CSGO crosshair. However, you should be aware that by using game settings, you will not be able to find a full list of crosshair commands.

changing crosshair in via game settings

In order to change crosshair via game settings, you need to find a proper tab first. Navigate to the gear icon(settings menu). Click on the “Game” tab and choose “Crosshair”. There you will find common crosshair commands that you can tailor to your own personal preferences. Here is what is available.

Crosshair Style – There are five different crosshair styles. Default, Default Statis, Classic, Classic Dynamic, Classic Static. These are nothing else but pre-determined command sets that will help CSGO players who are just starting.

Center Dot – This option only has a yes or no option. You can determine whether you want a small dot in the middle of your sight or not. Keep in mind that most CSGO pro players prefer not to have a center dot.

Length – When creating your own crosshair, there are two main crosshair styles. You can either make it big or small. This is exactly what this option is about.

Thickness – In order to create a new crosshair, you will also have to choose how wide will your sight be. You can make it slim or wide, based on your personal preference.

Gap – This is one of the most important CSGO crosshair settings and here is why. With this option, you are choosing how close the sightlines are to one another. Keep in mind that negative values are included in this option which can make crosshair gap non-existent.

Outline – With this option, you can choose your crosshair’s transparency. It can be turned on and off.

Red, Green, Blue – These three colors provide everything you need for your CS:GO crosshair. Play with values that go from 0 to 255 and create a mixture of custom colors that will help you get the best CS:GO crosshair for yourself.

T Style – This game settings option allows a chance to change the crosshair style to look like a letter T. This will remove the top line and for some players, it will help improve aim with different weapons.

Deployed Weapon Gap – Use this feature to make a dynamic crosshair based on the weapon that is currently used.

Show Player Crosshairs – Not so long ago, Valve introduced an option to show crosshairs. You have several options here. You can turn it off, only show your CS:GO crosshair to friends and parties, or show it to everyone. By doing this, Valve allows other players to copy a crosshair that they like without having to use command sets.

Using Custom Crosshair Maps

In our opinion, the easiest way to change CS:GO crosshair settings is to use a custom map that can be found on Workshop. For instance, Crashz’s crosshair generator is perfect.

In all fairness, this project offers everything you are looking for regarding CS crosshairs. Crosshair code knowledge is not required in order to use this map.

crashz's crosshair generator

You can alter crosshair lines, change from static to dynamic easily, and overall make an excellent crosshair in a couple of minutes.

Keep in mind that the project developer also put in place crosshairs from the best CS:GO players who play the game professionally. Without following commands that are hard to learn, now you can just copy the exact same crosshair style used by a pro player.

Crosshair Commands

Instead of using crosshair settings, more experienced CSGO players tend to use console commands to change their sights. Before you delve into the world of console commands, make sure that you enable developer console.

Common Crosshair Commands You Should Know About

Console command options offer more crosshair settings once compared to other methods. However, in order to change crosshair this way, players will have to learn a console command for every aspect of crosshair change.

By using the crosshair codes that we will provide below, you will experience a CSGO gaming experience on a level above everyone else. We are positive that the crosshair code you will find here will affect not only aiming but your confidence as well.

With this crosshair code, you can adjust how thick the crosshair outline is. This is a very important command as higher thickness will stop you from seeing the background and you can easily lose focus like that. The default value for this option is 1, while it ranges from 0.1 to 3.

It is also important to mention that this command can only be used if the cl_crosshair_drawoutline is set to 1.

There are only two available options for this method. By using this one, you can make your own crosshair look heavier and it will definitely stand out on the screen(if mixed with good crosshair colors).

This crosshair code can only be set to 1 or 0. In other words, you can enable or disable this developer console command.

First-person shooter games often have a mandatory dot in the middle of a crosshair. By using proper crosshair settings, you can either use the dot in the center or completely remove it.

In recent months, many pro players and casuals are keeping only the dot as it dramatically increases their precision. To do that, you can use the following CS:GO crosshair command sets: cl_crosshairsize 0; cl_crosshairdot 1.

This is one of the few commands that allows players to configure the level of transparency. The range to choose from varies from 0 to 255. Default crosshair uses the 255 value and there is a good reason for that.

Firstly, it makes the CS crosshair fully visible. Secondly, some maps are brighter than others. Players that use a lower value for this CS:GO crosshair code will have problems finding their sight on the screen as it will blend with the game background.

In order to use this command, ensure that cl_crosshairusealpha is set to 1.

This is the go-to crosshair code for transparency. If this one is not set to 1, crosshair transparency is turned off.

CS:GO players will often tilt and rage when they are positive that the crosshair was locked on the head and the bullet did not register a hit. This is one of the few crosshair codes that will help you fix that.

This command allows you to adjust the gap for the default static crosshair. Before you do these tweaks, make sure that the cl_crosshairstyle 1 command is used. You can use both positive and negative values with this one.

It does not matter if you are a fan of small crosshairs or large ones, this CS:GO crosshair command will come in handy by helping improve your aim.

The best part about this crosshair code is that it has no limits. Negative values will force the lines closer to each other and effectively provide you with a small crosshair. Contrary to that, positive values will push the lines further away from each other and you will be left with a large crosshair.

If you want to make your CS:GO crosshair thick or thin, this is the only command you will need. Keep in mind that there is no maximum limit for this one, but the minimum value is set to 0.5.

With this code, you can change the size of the crosshair. If you set this value to 0, you will end up without a crosshair. It is important to mention that various other crosshair codes will affect the final size of your CS:GO crosshair.

CS developers put in place six different crosshair codes for various colors. By using the console command, you can access red(cl_crosshaircolor 0), green(cl_crosshaircolor 1), yellow(cl_crosshaircolor 2), blue(cl_crosshaircolor 3), cyan(cl_crosshaircolor 4), and custom colors(cl_crosshaircolor 5).

If you want a white crosshair, use the following CSGO console command: cl_crosshaircolor 5.

By using this command, you can set different gaps for different weapons. You can only use 1(on) or 0(off) values for this console command.

This command was introduced to CSGO not so long ago. This option removes the top crosshair lines. The main reason why CSGO players use this one is that it increases accuracy.

Lastly, with this command, you can change from static to dynamic crosshair in a beat. The value for this one ranges from 0 to 5. There is no smart answer for the value you should put here. It is purely based on a personal preference of CS players.
