HOW TO FIND CSGO CONFIG FILE
Finding your own config folder is a straightforward process. We will provide exact steps on how to locate the folder and the file you are looking for. Keep in mind that Valve used to keep the cfg folder inside the \Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg folder.
This is not the case anymore as custom configs were moved to another Steam folder. Here is the path or so-called default location you need to follow in order to access your config file for Counter-Strike Global Offensive:
✔️ C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\STEAMID\730\local\cfg ✔️
If you are having a hard time finding your SteamID, let us help. SteamID.io is an excellent website that will help you find your SteamID.
Keep in mind that the route that includes C:\Program Files (x86)\ does not have to be in the same place for you. It depends on where exactly you installed CSGO. Everything else in the path above stays the same.
You can also inspect your CS configuration by opening the .cfg file in a .txt format via software such as Notepad.
SAVING & EXECUTING CONFIGURATION FILE IN CSGO
Now that you are aware of the folder and the config location, it is time to create and save your own config. Here are the steps that will navigate you through this process.
Start the game and join the server in order to have clear access to all of the features and settings. Open the console and write the following:
host_writeconfig “config_name”
Keep in mind that you can only use Latin letters and no spacing when creating a config name for the configuration file. Feel free to use underscores if you are creating multiple practice configurations. Custom settings can be added either in-game or they can be copied and pasted manually.
Once you are done with creating your game settings, your config file will automatically save once you exit the game.
For beginners, we want to recommend doing things through the game software. On the other hand, advanced players who can memorize commands by heart can easily change custom CSGO configurations without starting the game.
If you did everything correctly, config can be found in local files which means that autoexec is now available. Here is an example of how autoexec works.
Let’s say that you prepared several practice configurations and you have one that will help you practice nade positions on Mirage. While creating these files, you titled this one as “mirage_nades.cfg”.
In order to access this one, open the console and type exec mirage_nades.cfg. Press enter and your practice configuration is now loaded and waiting for you. It is important to mention that you can use multiple type exec commands in order to change from one config file to another.

HOW TO INSTALL PRO PLAYER CONFIG
A lot of players are lazy when it comes to testing things out to find out what works for them. With that being said, pro players often share their config files, free of charge. Here are the necessary steps you need to follow in order to install the pro player config.
Head over to Proconfig.net and find the pro players’ accounts you are interested in. Most players refer to the best CSGO players such as s1mple, ZywOo, or NiKo. Once there, you can download the config file and paste it into the following Steam folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\STEAMID\730\local\cfg
Write down or memorize the name of the config files you downloaded. You will need that information when you open the console in order to use the exec function.
